Self Care. Strange phrase really. Shouldn’t it be a given that we know how to take care of ourselves? I know I have my areas of neglect, those areas that when ignored long enough turn into a pain in my body or maybe a stop me in my tracks sickness. Our bodies know best, yet we still ignore it.
My intention this year is: mindfully different and mindfully different with my own self care. I’m presenting this offering to you, to let you decide, to see if it speaks to you and if you feel it’s something you need also.
What is self-care and why is it important?
I have experienced that when I don’t put myself first and my own care ahead of others that EVERYTHING around me starts to suffer. This includes how I am able to support those that matter to me most. Self care is important for you. Taking care of yourself lets you become a bigger benefit to those who are important in your life. You can define it in a way that works for you, but taking care of yourself let’s you take care of others.

What is It?
My personal offering to my readers. One of my initiatives for 2012 is Self-Care and I believe many of you feel the need for the same. This will be a safe environment for all of us to explore and learn self-care together. Participants in SelfCare2012 will have priority access to my inbox (you will receive a special email address) and the offering is limited to 75 people. I will also open a special & private Google+ circle for participants. If you are unsure about Google+ or haven’t heard of it, I will walk you through the sign up process.
What you get
A monthly exercise, starting in February 2012. This will emailed in the first week of each month and will be our theme for the month. Each week during the month I will send out check-in emails, questions to get you thinking as well as offer opportunities to meet and discuss together online. If I have resources to share I will during the month. You are able to ask questions any time via email or through the private circle on Google+
The weeks will be a time of reflection and thought and while we will communicate and share over the week, you will no receive any emails for the program from me during this time. New messages will be sent on Mondays, Wednesdays or Fridays.
Each message will have my personal experiences, what I’m doing and how I’m experimenting with what works. I will also share from the participants if I receive an email and the participant agrees to let me share.
Some of the topics covered
While these topics can and will likely evolved during the course of the program depending on the participants needs here is an example of a few of the areas we’ll cover
- Stop the deprivation — learn how to build an “No List” and stop the deprivation
- Mirror, Mirror — learn the importance of positive self-talk. We’ll practice it all month
- Letting Go — you have a way of doing things and so do others, embrace new ways of doing things by letting go
- Health — we’ll spend a month focusing on our health
- Anger — we’ll learn how to deal with any anger and how to release it
- Being Sensitive — Learn how to protect ourselves not matter how sensitive you might be
